Why would you
want to exploit the locations of these not so well known surf
spots?
I don’t, but I also like showing cool people great places. Many
times I found myself at these spots alone, wanting a little company.
Naturally, I wanted to keep these places special, so most tours are limited
to four people/trip (unless all in the tour are friends).
Why do I need Endless
Indo? Can't I find these places on my own?
It’s true, if you have a lot of time and patience, you can make
your own surf trip. Of course, you’ll have to deal with a lot of
hassles, which is just the norm in Indo. In the end, you’ll probably
end up paying more on your own, than if you book with us and even then
you won’t have as much fun. I’ve spent years going through
all the hassles so you don’t have to. For example, just getting
a car from the airport can become a mob scene drama where, guaranteed
you will end up paying too much. There are a lot of factors which knowing
the language, geography, and having contacts can eliminate. We take care
of all of that for you. Also, our standard for comfort is much greater
than 98% of any travel experience you may have in Indonesia. For
example, our cars are comfortable, air-conditioned with stereos, hotel
stops outside of surf areas are air-con with cable television and provide
comfortable beds and breakfast buffets. Basically with us you get
no hassles, more comfort and a lot of extra fun.
I am a beginner
surfer. Are there any surf spots for me?
There are a few beginner spots in Indo, but I wouldn’t recommend
trying to surf for the first time in Indo on your own. For the
first time in 2005 EndlessIndo is offering a Beginner
Tour in West Java. This
is a great opportunity to taste surfing in Indo even
without any previous experience. Just like all our tours, the emphasis
is on having fun, eating delicious food, cool people
and good times. Check out the
Learn to Surf tour page.
In general surfing in Indo is not for beginners. However, it’s
really up to the individual. Every year I see beginners charging heavy
waves over shallow reefs. It’s true they usually end up with more
cuts and bruises, but they also tend to really enjoy it because they
are pushing themselves to improve. So, I would say, the waves are generally
for above-average surfers, although there are a variety of waves throughout
Indo, but if you are not timid and not afraid of some minor injuries,
you’ll probably love it just as well as an expert surfer. Bring
a good attitude and a medical kit and don’t let anyone talk you
into anything you’re not comfortable with. Check out each spot
for yourself and definitely charge it if it feels right!
Endless Indo assumes no liability for injury, death or other problems
while on a tour.
What kind of fun are
you talking about?
I usually get to know my guests and what their interests are before
and during a tour to get an idea of what fun is to each person and I
keep the tours flexible and funny so that we all have a good time on
every trip. Things like an off-road motorbike ride, waterfall hike,
night tour to the national sea turtle park, boat ride to Ombak Tuju (bring
your big wave gun), and Nightlife tours are examples of options which
are available and already included in the tour price. My
goal is for everyone to have a good time and EndlessIndo will always
strive for the best of times.
Isn't Jakarta
and Indonesia for that matter, dangerous, especially for Americans
right now?
In all honesty, I feel safer in Jakarta than I would in most major cities
in the USA. In general, Indonesians are very passive and friendly people.
The only problems you are likely to encounter are people wanting to talk
to you too much and of course negotiating for anything, which is truly
an art in Indo. Of course, there are occasional robberies, but they are
almost always limited to the tourist areas, especially around Bali. Before
the Bali bombing of October, 2002, there has almost never been anti-tourist
violence. These are nice people and they have great respect for westerners.
It is true that anything can happen in Indo, but overall I feel their
basic demeanor is peaceful. Going to Indo is an adventure, and that’s
the way to treat it. I’ll do my best on all tours to keep up with
local news and avoid hot-spots. There is only a small chance of encountering
ANY problems, but that is part of traveling anywhere in the world. Remember,
these tours are adventures to a third-world country that is very different
from Australia, USA, or Europe.
I heard stories of
Anti-American groups in Jakarta. Is it true?
There are a few small hard line Muslim groups probably originating in
East Java. The Jakarta journalists are savvy at making a small story
seem big in the international newspapers and the hard line Muslim groups
know this, so they go to Jakarta, have demonstrations and yell a lot
which gets them a lot of publicity. But, violence against tourists is
rare. I personally have been in Jakarta during the most tumultuous political
times since 1996. I never had one problem or even sensed danger in any
form, but then I would get on a plane, read the USA Today and they would
make it out like it was the end of the world. So, basically, the chance
you will be in Jakarta during a demonstration or riot is very small,
but even if you were, it should pose no threat to you, unless you do
something stupid like run down the street naked wrapped in an American
Flag, punching the locals. Even then, they would probably just arrest
you or laugh at you. Bottom line is that if you are nice and respectful,
the chance of having any problems in Indonesia is extremely small. Sure,
anything is possible, but you could get mugged in your own city and my
point is that that is more likely than something malicious happening
to you Indonesia. And if that doesn’t make you feel better, remember
this – the Indonesian economy is very dependent on tourism and
they realize this, so the government, police, etc. will readily back
up anything to do with tourism and quickly quell any shown animosity
towards tourists. Do not forget Indonesia is a 3rd World Country
and risks uncontrollable by EndlessIndo are present. (Endless Indo
assumes no liability for anything that happens to you or your property
on your trip, although the likelihood of any problem is small).
What makes EndlessIndo
better than other tours or traveling alone?
Here's 10 Reasons EndlessIndo is better:
- Knowledge - We know dozens of absolutely perfect waves
many of which most people don’t even know about. We know what tide,
swell, wind, season, etc. are ideal for each spot,
so that the right decisions are made at the right times. We also know
how to avoid the crowds.
- Comfort and Ease of Travel - We’ve spent years
suffering through Indo travel nightmares so you don’t have to. You
will avoid hassles and rip-offs. Hours of wasted time waiting and negotiating
and slow bus rides will be eliminated. Instead, all the hassles of arranging
tickets, transportation, and lodging will already be taken care of. We
offer air-conditioned cars always. Air-conditioned lodging and the best
place to stay in each village is offered as much as possible. We strive
to provide a level of comfort a step above what most surfers experience
while traveling through Indo, all for a very reasonable price.
- Crowds - We don’t like surfing in crowds. Indonesia
has hundreds of surf spots. The trick is to read
conditions and travel to the best spots while having options. Uncrowded,
perfect waves are guaranteed. Our tours are designed to be flexible so
as to avoid crowds and find the best surf.
- Food - We will eat at restaurants in each area we
visit. Each area has its own style and specialties. All are delicious
and healthy in their own ways. A great way to experience many of the flavors
of Indonesia. Most boat trips and other tours are limited to one cook
or restaurant and many times aren’t even very good. We have the
flexibility to choose from many different restaurants every day.
- The Vibe - A more relaxed, fun adventure vibe. Meet
the locals along the way, enjoy the adventure, avoid
the hassles.
- Flexibility - Trips can be lengthened, destinations
can be altered, etc. all during your trip.
- Pure Fun - The combination of nice accommodations and
nightlife in cities with real adventure to remote
destinations all with the best hospitality available makes for an awful
good time.
- Small Groups - You’ll never have to deal with
the conflicting personalities of 2 groups of 4 guys
from opposite sides of the world, a common problem on boat-trips in Indo
these days. Also, the bring-your-own-crowd phenomena will be avoided.
- Price - Costs to you are kept at a minimum. You get
the best value for your money.
- Photography -
Video and still photography sessions available.
